Na Opio Canoe Racing Association

Na Opio currently has 18 member clubs located throughout the island of Oahu.

Clubs gather between the months of October and February to train and compete against each other at our regatta's. Regatta's are held at Keehi Lagoon Beach Park from December-February, and we offer divisions for grades 3-12.

Na Opio is an affiliate member of the Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association.

Na Opio was organized for the purpose of...

Offering youth of Hawaii the opportunity to perpetuate the State of Hawaii designated team sport of Outrigger Canoe Racing.

Encouraging participants to learn and become an integral part of Hawaiian Culture through the activity of outrigger cane racing.

Perpetuation of a Hawaiian cultural program that relates to the family, sea, canoe, and the land, teaching the use of elements of nature that surround the building, lashing, sailing, and paddling of outrigger canoes.

Instilling the necessary discipline for healthy attitudes, respect, and responsibility toward others, themselves and physical properties.

Following the guidelines of the State of Hawaii Department of Education governing cultural clubs and activities within schools.
